Colin Wilcockson (1942-1951)

It is with great sadness that I share the sad news of the passing of Colin Wilcockson on 1st March 2023. 

Colin joined Chigwell School in 1942 and served as Head of School in his final year in 1951. Several years later, he continued his service by sitting as a Governor at Chigwell School from 1994 until 2002. He is remembered by many for his kind heartedness and fairness.

He was further educated at Merton College, Oxford. Colin began supervising for Pembroke College whilst serving as both Head of English and Deputy Headmaster at The Leys School in Cambridge. In 1973 he was appointed Fellow and Director of Studies in English at Pembroke where he spent the rest of his academic life.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Colin’s widow Pam, their three sons, Michael, Nigel and David, and all their family, and friends.
