New Head of Biology

Claire Pearce, originally from Chelmsford, is the newest addition to our vibrant Biology department. During her studies at the University of York, she developed an enthusiasm for biology and longed to pursue a career in education. She went on to complete a PGCE at Oxford University, followed by a master’s degree in ‘Teaching and Learning’, alongside teaching Biology at the King Edward VI Grammar School; her academic research focused on developing scientific literacy in secondary school students. Subsequently, she moved on to the Godolphin and Latymer School to take on the role as Medical, Dentistry and Veterinary Science Applications Coordinator, as well as Head of Biology maternity cover. Through Claire’s guidance, she supported many students in their successful applications onto these highly competitive courses. Taking on the role of Head of Biology at Chigwell, Claire looks forward to motivating students to pursue a range of Biological courses and career paths, planning trips further abroad for avid biologists.
