I am a member of the Girls* Advisory Group, which is a part of the "Safer Cities" project organised by the Polish NGO Juniper Foundation and PLAN International Poland. The group was created to amplify youth voices in the debate on women’s safety. The project focuses on enhancing the safety and activity of women in public spaces, their mobility and autonomy in cities, and their freedom to live as they choose.
I had the privilege to talk about my work in the advisory group at a conference on the 11th of October (International Day of the Girl Child). And then a few days later we went to Brussels where I had a chance to speak with young activists from Garance ASBL and PLAN International Belgium, both of which have years of experience in improving safety in cities. I also attended a European Week of Action for Girls (EWAG) in the European Parliament where I had a chance to listen and talk to representatives of various organisations, politicians and activists.
I am grateful to be a part of the Girls* Advisory Group because although it was probably the most intense time of my life I loved every second of it. And I learnt so much!
