This week at Chigwell School is Cultural Week, a pupil-led initiative designed to honour and embrace the rich tapestry of backgrounds that make up our school community. Organised by our pupil Equality Ambassadors, the week kicked off with a whole school assembly where the Equality Ambassadors shared the significance of cultural diversity and the role it plays in shaping a more inclusive environment. Following this, students and staff were invited to participate in a Microsoft Forms survey, gathering valuable feedback on how Chigwell can continue to support cultural awareness and equality, whilst also gaining valuable insight in our cultural make-up. The video below, created by pupils, showcases the cultures we have here at Chigwell and why they are so important.

At lunch, we have already been treated to a variety of international cuisine including borscht and goulash on Monday for Polish Day, with more to come! Year 7 and 8 form times will be cultural sessions all week, featuring "Guess the Language," traditional dress displays, and interactive discussions about different national foods and flags. In the Swallow Library, a display featuring an array of books from various cultures offers pupils the opportunity to explore stories from around the globe. In the Pre Prep, an assembly hosted by our older pupils will introduce them to the beauty of cultural diversity.

Well done to our Equality Ambassadors for organising such a well-planned and thoughtful schedule - Cultural Week is already a resounding success with lots more excitement to come.
