Speech Day 2025 was a truly unforgettable occasion at Chigwell School, filled with pride, emotion, and a deep sense of community.
The day began with a moving service at St Mary’s Church, setting a reflective and heartfelt tone.
In the Sport & Wellness Centre, the formal proceedings began with a welcoming speech from Mrs Serrelli, Chair of Governors. Our Head, Mr Damian King, followed with a powerful reflection on his third year at Chigwell, celebrating the achievements of our pupils and the strength of our school community.
We were honoured to welcome Fergal Keane, OBE, as our Guest Speaker this year. His deeply moving and motivational speech encouraged everyone to live life with purpose, compassion, and courage -words that resonated throughout the day and will continue to inspire our community. Several members of our community commented on how relevant and impactful they felt it was.
The Prize Giving ceremony was the highlight of the event, recognising pupils for their outstanding achievements in academics, sports, music, art, and co-curricular activities, as well as their contributions to their houses. Each prize-winner was met with warm applause as they took the stage to receive their well-deserved honours.
The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt and inspiring speech from our Head Pupil, Kayuki, whose reflections captured the essence of Chigwell and the journey of our pupils.
Speech Day also marked a poignant farewell to our Year 13 leavers, whose dedication and contributions have left a lasting legacy. We wish them every success in their future endeavours.
It was a day full of pride and emotion. Huge congratulations to all our prize-winners, and sincere thanks to our special guests, governors, staff, pupils, and parents for making this year's Speech Day such an enjoyable, emotional, and memorable celebration of the Chigwell School community.
