We were thrilled to welcome Paralympian Richard Chiassaro to our school as part of our Prep Sports Day celebrations. Richard delivered an inspiring and heartfelt assembly to our Year 3–6 students, sharing his journey as a world-class athlete and now a professional athletics coach.
During the assembly, Richard spoke about his experiences training and competing at the highest level, the challenges he faced along the way, and how he overcame setbacks when things didn’t go to plan. He also gave students a glimpse into life after elite sport, offering valuable insights into the world of coaching and mentoring.
His message was deeply rooted in the core sporting values of resilience, determination, and teamwork - perfect themes to set the tone for our Sports Day. Students were captivated by his honesty, humour, and passion, and left feeling motivated to give their best both on and off the field.
Richard, a T54 wheelchair racer, is a two-time Paralympian who has claimed two World Championship bronze medals and both gold and silver at the European Championships, solidifying his status as one of Britain’s top para athletes.
We are incredibly grateful to Richard for taking the time to visit and for inspiring our young athletes to believe in themselves and embrace every challenge with courage and commitment.
