As part of our ongoing Chigwell Conversations series, we were delighted to welcome educator, writer, podcaster, and character-education specialist Kenny Primrose to speak to our community about the timely and important theme of “Flourishing in an Age of Social Media.”
Following the inspirational visit from child psychologist Dr Charlotte Clarke earlier this term, this event continued our focus on supporting families with the challenges and opportunities facing young people today. Kenny’s work centres on character development, human flourishing, digital wellbeing, and responsible screen use, and he provides coaching and consultancy to schools and organisations across the UK. His approach equips adults and young people alike with the insight and tools they need to navigate an increasingly digital world with purpose and balance.
During his presentation, Kenny explored how social media can shape identity, relationships, and behaviour, and he encouraged parents to reflect on how to guide young people towards meaningful and connected lives - lives rooted not in online comparison or constant connectivity, but in character, community, and a sense of purpose.
Reflecting on his visit, Kenny said, “It was a pleasure to speak at Chigwell School on ‘Flourishing in an Age of Social Media’ for the Chigwell Conversations series. The last 15 years or so have put us in a Petri dish with smartphones; now more than ever we need to pause and reflect on the results we're seeing. I was grateful for the opportunity to do this with some engaged parents who are trying to figure out what wise parenting looks like in these screen-saturated waters.”
The evening generated thoughtful discussion among parents and staff and offered practical strategies for supporting young people’s wellbeing in the digital age.
We extend our warm thanks to Kenny Primrose for sharing his expertise and for contributing so generously to our community conversations.
