For the first time, this year saw two Royal Parks Half Marathons and our team of Chigwell School parents, staff, and Old Chigwellians ran in both. The ‘virtual’ event took place back in April but on Sunday 10th October more of our charity runners ran the event back in its normal location of central London. All the hard work and fun saw them raise funds and awareness for Cancer Research UK. We will not know our grand total for a few weeks but we aim to beat our April amount of £41,000 if we can!

Organiser Gill Punt commented that “This is a wonderful example of our Chigwell community rallying once more for an important cause during these difficult times and I would like to thank all those who laced up their trainers and ran or who donated to our worthy cause”.

Chelsie May, the Relationship Executive at Cancer Research UK, said, “Chigwell School, you have done it again! A huge well done to everyone who ran the Royal Parks Half Marathon on Sunday! After such a strange 18 months that saw lots of cancelled events and a virtual event back in April, it was amazing to see pictures of the team together again at a real life event. I hope you enjoyed it and I hope you are all so proud of the amazing fundraising that you have done, it is just incredible. Your fundraising plays a vital part in helping us make faster progress towards our goal of seeing 3 in 4 people surviving cancer by 2034. I know I speak on behalf of everyone here at Cancer Research UK when I say we are so grateful for your hard work, determination and support. Thank you for being such an amazing team!”
