STEM Competition Tournament Champions
STEM Competition Tournament Champions
Chigwell School is delighted to announce that our team has been crowned overall champions at a recent STEM tournament, competing against 19 other schools from across the region.
The competition consisted of three challenging stages designed to test a wide range of scientific skills. The first was an experimental task exploring the extension of a spring, requiring precision, analytical thinking, and strong practical methodology. This was followed by a science‑themed escape room, where pupils worked collaboratively to solve problems involving moments, density, colour spectra, and electricity. The final round - a fast‑paced calculations race - placed teams under time pressure to apply their knowledge with accuracy and speed.
Thanks to their impressive experimental technique, rapid problem‑solving abilities, and excellent scientific reasoning throughout all three stages, the Chigwell School team claimed victory in the calculations race and secured the title of overall tournament winners.
Alongside the competition, pupils also enjoyed an inspiring talk from Victoria Edwards, an aerospace lifecycle engineer at Rolls‑Royce. She spoke about her educational journey into engineering and shared insights from her career so far, highlighting the exciting opportunities available within the STEM sector. Her talk encouraged the girls to broaden their aspirations and consider the diverse pathways open to future engineers and scientists.
Congratulations to our talented pupils on this outstanding achievement. They represented Chigwell School with enthusiasm, teamwork, and curiosity - qualities that continue to make us proud.
