The new academic year has begun with yet another accolade for Chigwell School, as we are delighted to be named a finalist in the Talk Education Awards for Innovation in Education 2026 in the Pastoral Care and Wellbeing category.
This latest recognition marks an exceptional start to the 2026-27 academic year and represents Chigwell's fourth major accolade of 2026, following:
• Sunday Times Top 10 School for Academic Excellence
• Recognition of a 'Significant Strength' by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI)
• Commended Prep School of the Year in the Independent School of the Year Awards
• Finalist in the Talk Education Awards for Innovation in Education
The Talk Education Awards celebrate schools that are leading the way in innovative and impactful educational practice. Chigwell's shortlisting in the Pastoral Care and Wellbeing category reflects our unwavering commitment to supporting pupils' personal development alongside their academic success.
Commenting on the recognition, Deputy Head of Pastoral, Mr Burnside, said:
"At Chigwell, we believe that outstanding pastoral care underpins every aspect of a young person's development. By bringing together wellbeing, co-curricular opportunities and student leadership, we create an environment where pupils feel supported, valued and empowered to succeed.”
The award recognition follows Chigwell's recent ISI Inspection, during which inspectors identified the way the school's wellbeing, co-curricular and student leadership programmes work together as a Significant Strength. The report highlighted the impact of this integrated approach in helping pupils flourish academically, socially and emotionally.
Pastoral care has long been at the heart of a Chigwell education. Through a comprehensive wellbeing programme, dedicated pastoral support and a strong sense of community, the school seeks to ensure that every pupil is equipped with the confidence, resilience and character needed to thrive both during their time at Chigwell and beyond.
As we begin a new academic year, we are immensely proud to receive recognition in an area that reflects one of our core priorities. We would like to thank the Talk Education judges for this acknowledgement and congratulate our dedicated staff, whose expertise, compassion and commitment make such a positive difference to the lives of our pupils every day.
We look forward to celebrating alongside the other finalists and wish everyone involved the very best of luck.
