BASE is a national business and accounting competition for 16-17 year olds across the UK, organised by the Institute for Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).

13 students from Chigwell took part this year, in teams of 2-4 people. In round one, they completed an online game in which they had to decide what actions they would take in certain tricky business situations. In round two, each team had to make a video presentation, acting as business consultants and advising their client on actions to improve their business.

Mya (Year 12) called it "an enjoyable experience where we worked together as a team to discuss and complete tasks which helped us to find the best solution for each problem."

Zain (Year 12) described it simply as:

a flamboyant competition and an exhilarating experience.

All of the teams welcomed the chance to apply the knowledge they have learnt at school to realistic business situations, helping them boost their employability skills for the next stage of their careers.
