On Friday, we thoroughly enjoyed our annual House Music event, which once again proved to be a wonderful celebration of music, creativity and friendship.
On Friday, we thoroughly enjoyed our annual House Music event, which once again proved to be a wonderful celebration of music, creativity and friendship.
Since the beginning of term, pupils from Swallow's, Lambourne, Caswalls' and Penn's have worked tirelessly to prepare Chigwell’s traditional three House Music items. Their dedication, enthusiasm and musical talent were evident throughout the evening, making it a truly memorable event.
For Item One, our a cappella performance, Caswalls' led their House to victory with an impressive performance, receiving particular commendation for their excellent intonation and creative use of dynamics.
Item Two showcased the remarkable creativity of all four Houses, with each group delivering highly imaginative arrangements and instrumentation. Penn's were particularly noted for their outstanding woodwind and percussion sections, while Lambourne had the audience enthusiastically clapping along to their energetic performance of Young Hearts Run Free. Caswalls' impressed with beautiful vocal harmonies in their rendition of Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, alongside some wonderfully stirring keyboard effects.
Item Three, as always, brought the House Music competition to a spectacular conclusion. Our expert adjudicator, Jonathan Rathbone, was delighted by the Houses’ choice of “old school” repertoire. Lambourne ultimately took victory with their fantastic reimagining of Gloria Gaynor’s I Will Survive.
With so many outstanding performances across the evening, we could not have been prouder of all four Houses. We were therefore delighted to award the House Music Trophy to Swallow's in recognition of their exceptional efforts throughout the competition.
A huge thank you goes to our praefects, musicians, staff and students, whose hard work, commitment and enthusiasm made the evening such a magnificent celebration of music, teamwork and friendship. Well done to everyone involved!
