Remembering those who have passed away

On this page, we are commemorating Old Chigwellians and former Chigwell School staff who have recently passed away. ​​ Many of them have inspirational life stories and exhibit the spirit of 'Find a way or make a way' which resonates with our Chigwell School community.

Paul Farmer (1961-1968)

Paul Farmer

Paul Farmer came to Chigwell in 1961 from “The Red School” in Woodford Green, and entered IIIA under the guidance of David Balance. His musical flair, under the sterner eye of John Auston, soon got him into the school band and orchestra as a French horn player.

Colin Wilcockson (1942-1951)

Colin Wilcockson

Colin joined Chigwell School in 1942 and served as Head of School in his final year in 1951. Several years later, he continued his service by sitting as a Governor at Chigwell School from 1994 until 2002.

Gordon Ernest John Roberts (1948-1953)

Gordon Roberts

Gordon, the first of three sons was born on 11th July 1937. We all went to Oaklands a local Prep school in Buckhurst Hill, before migrating to Chigwell. Gordon first joined as a border at Haylands.
