As ICT underpins today’s modern lifestyle it is essential that all pupils gain the confidence and ability, that they need in this subject, to prepare them for the challenge of a rapidly developing and changing technological world. We aim to place ICT at the core of the Chigwell Schools’ learning community, providing a range of technologies, capabilities and the creativity for transformative, lifelong learning in the classroom, across the school and in the community.
In Years 7 & 8 pupils attend ICT lessons in our well resourced PC and Mac suites, where they learn the skills to prepare them for the modern world. They explore Office 365, our VLE and cover all aspects of E Safety. They learn to code using Java and Python and enjoy writing their own educational games. From Year 9 we run a BYOD scheme and pupils use ICT across the curriculum. Departments use industry standard, subject specific software, as well as on line resources to enhance the learning experience.
