Chigwell school is looking to appoint a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as the Head of Grounds responsible for overseeing all aspects of the school's grounds and outdoor facilities.
The School is set in 100 acres beautifully maintained by our dedicated team of grounds staff. The school estate comprises of playing fields, pupil’s garden, teaching buildings, music school, drama centre, boarding houses, newly opened sports hall, outdoor swimming pool, astro playing pitch and a number of residential staff accommodation.
The Head of Grounds will manage and maintain the school's grounds, including sports fields, gardens, landscaping, and outdoor recreational areas. They will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive grounds maintenance program, ensuring that all outdoor spaces are safe, functional, and maintained to high standards. They will supervise and manage our dedicated and professional grounds team, providing guidance, training, and support as needed and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and best practices.
The successful candidate will have proven experience in grounds management, preferably in an educational setting and strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to effectively supervise and motivate a team. Knowledge of grounds maintenance techniques, equipment, and materials is essential alongside a proactive and collaborative approach to work, and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors, and other stakeholders.
