Sports Facilities

We aim to give all pupils the opportunity to play sport in a positive, enjoyable and safe environment in which their development is the main focus.

We want all games to be played in the right manner and spirit, by encouraging all pupils to be comfortable in team situations and at the same time developing players who are technically aware.

Pupils have PE lessons and games afternoons; there is a full programme of fixtures played against other schools and older pupils can participate in sports tours. We believe that playing sport allows pupils to develop character, to learn to win and lose with others, build self esteem and a competitive spirit.

The excellent sports facilities at Chigwell, which are on site, provide opportunities for all pupils; for those who wish to develop their performance to the highest level and for those who enjoy playing sport as part of a healthy lifestyle. Aside from the existing gym and sports hall, which incorporates a multi-purpose area and separate spaces for weight-training and cardio-vascular exercises, there is an outdoor pool which is used in September and through the summer. Hockey is played on the floodlit astroturf and there are nine tennis/netball courts and indoor and outdoor cricket nets. There are nine football pitches as well as a new 3G floodlit pitch. In the summer, pupils use seven cricket pitches as well as a grass athletics track.
