Chigwell School is a diverse yet inclusive learning community, dedicated to the exploration of all that life has to offer. We value the unique talents of every one of our members, and seek to develop them in all their exciting variety: thus scholarship is celebrated alongside practical skills, the performing arts together with sporting achievement.
We encourage in all Chigwellians the qualities of honesty and integrity, a love of learning for its own sake, a lively curiosity about the mystery of the world in which they find themselves, and a feeling for the importance of all living things, themselves included. The School’s motto (aut viam inveniam aut faciam “Either I shall find a way or make one”) remains fundamental: it is important that our students develop a determinedly independent spirit, taking responsibility for their own academic progress, their personal health and fitness, their relationships with others and the world around them.
The School is Christian by foundation, but explicitly inclusive, committed to inter-faith dialogue and actively learning from all the different traditions brought to it by its members. We seek to balance an honest search for personal spiritual truth with active engagement in the discoveries of others.
