Welcome to The Friends of Chigwell School homepage.
The Friends of Chigwell (FoC) is the School’s Parents’ and Teachers’ Association and a well-established part of school life.
The FoC has a dual role. Firstly it raises funds to help enhance the facilities and education that Chigwell pupils enjoy. Secondly, and of equal importance, it strives to bring the community of parents, pupils and teachers together in a relaxed atmosphere, be it at a fireworks night, theatre trip or over tea and cake at Sports Day. The facilities, community and social life all enrich our children’s school experience and help them to get the most out of their time at Chigwell.
During the last few years the FoC has paid for the portable floodlights, the astronomy dome, the staging for the Pre Prep hall and we have a few more projects lined up. This year we have donated £593 to the Music department as well as £10,000 to the school's new outdoor curriculum, which will be put towards canoes and a trailer on which to carry them. The FoC organises various events throughout the year – typically four a term – to raise funds. These are then spent on ‘extras’ that the School could not necessarily afford but which enhance school life. Some events are for children, others for parents and some for families.
The FoC committee is made up of parents and the three school Heads. We meet once a month to discuss future and past events and to agree support for the projects for which the School requests support. Typically different committee members take the lead in running different events so that everyone has a chance to participate and the work load does not fall too heavily on any one member.
We are always delighted to welcome new members to the committee or those who are just happy to help with individual events. Please do get in touch if you would like to become involved.
