Our Community Service and Charity Work
Community service and charities are two important aspects at Chigwell as we profoundly wish to maintain a strong bond of union between the School and the local area and to strengthen the spirit of service to the community.
The School raises at least £20,000 a year for designated charities through various activities such as cake and ice-cream sales, Fashion Show, Flower Festival, School sponsored walks, Christmas boxes, the highly successful Diwali Dinners and the acclaimed Christmas Fayre.
The Chigwell School Charities Committee supports a number of local Charities including Pony Riding for the Disabled, the Winged Fellowship, Haven House Foundation and St Elizabeth School Hertford (for children with learning disabilities).
Every summer our Middle Sixth students volunteer to work with a wide range of local caring agencies, including the Cheshire Homes and Save the Children and our Sixth Formers devote up to two weeks of their vacation to work with disadvantaged children in inner city areas.

Furthermore, approximately £420,000 goes into providing annual scholarships and bursaries for academically or artistically gifted children. This means that the School is able to help one for every 7 of Chigwell’s pupils.
Many more exciting events are planned this year, if you are interested in becoming involved on our community and charities programme, please contact Mrs Angela Carroll on acarroll@chigwell-school.org , your contribution would be greatly welcome. |
