A School with a soul

While the inspiration and ideals of the School’s foundations are Anglican, nowadays all the principal world faiths are represented on the School’s roll, and we value and respect this important dimension to our life. We believe worship is important and everyone in the School attends services in the Chapel twice a week. Although these services are grounded in the Christian faith, we draw consciously on the insight and experiences of the world’s great religious traditions and are inclusive of all pupils. We delight in what we have in common, but also respect and affirm distinctiveness.

The School is enriched by people of a variety of faiths and the many societies are an important aspect of our spiritual life. The Jewish and Islamic Societies have thrived. The Diwali Celebration in November is now a firm fixture in the School calendar. The termly celebrations on a Sunday evening of the Ecumenical Family Eucharist also draw a substantial and committed congregation and it is a great joy that our Roman Catholic brothers and sisters gather once a term to celebrate Mass. The Flower Festival is now a well-established feature in our Chapel and every year various Chigwell parents and others work a minor miracle in producing such wonderful displays.
Finally Chigwell School is a wonderful, multi-faith community where pupils’ minds are challenged and rewarded. May we continue to thrive.
