Chigwell School is an incorporated charity (no. 1115098) run solely for the benefit of its pupils. Unlike many other public schools, it does not have the support of a livery company or endowment. In order to ensure that the School can continue to move forwards and enhance its facilities, Chigwell is determined to build a strong and mutually beneficial relationship with its supporters and the local community.
From its foundation in 1629 Chigwell has depended on the generosity of far-sighted individuals. Our founder, Samuel Harsnett, established the School for the education of poor scholars. One of those poor scholars was William Penn, founder of Pennsylvania and the city of Philadelphia. Over the last years, Parents and Old Chigwellians who wish to see the School prosper have made generous contributions, helping Chigwell to become what is today. But we must keep the upward trend if we wish the School to continue its wonderful work. If you would like to find out more on how you can help by making a gift to the School please see the page HOW YOU CAN HELP.
