Further information on how to apply:

The completed Registration Form, together with the Registration Fee, should be sent to the Admission Registrar who will then make all arrangements for interviews and tests.

When completing the registration form the following information should be recorded:

• The Examination Boards of the GCSE examinations.
• Candidates applying for Biology, Physics or Chemistry should supply details of the Board and indicate whether they will sit for dual award Science GCSE or for separate subjects.
• Candidates applying for History should indicate which period they are studying for GCSE.
• Candidates applying for Mathematics must be studying the higher tier of GCSE Mathematics.
• Candidates applying for Religious Studies should indicate which specification they are following.

Registered applicants will be invited into the School for the first interview on Saturday 1st December and some candidates will be asked back for a second interview and Scholarship examination papers on Saturday 8th December. All candidates will receive our final decision in letters posted on the 12th December.

A confidential report will be requested, before the first interview day, from the applicant’s present school.

All Sixth Form places are awarded on the basis of the interview(s) along with the current school report. Candidates will also be asked to bring in samples of their academic work to their first, and possibly may be asked to sit a paper at their second interview. All potential students are expected to reflect the School’s demand on commitment, academic effort and behaviour, as well as achievement.

Candidates should also be aware that as well as achieving the grade in their chosen subjects they should have, in total, at least six GCSE passes at grade B or above. Exceptional candidates may be awarded scholarships on the basis of these interviews and their school report. For applicants unable to attend one of the two principal interview days, separate arrangements can be made.

If the candidate is offered a place an admission fee of £400 is payable, of which £150 will be deducted from the final account. Please note this admission fee is non-refundable in the event the place is not taken and a term’s fee in lieu of notice will be charged.
