The completed Registration Form, together with the Registration Fee, should be sent to the Admissions Registrar who will then make all arrangements for interviews and tests.
Details of the examination day and specimen papers in English and mathematics will be sent to you at the beginning of November. These specimen papers are designed to give you an idea of the format and standard of the examination. On the examination day there will also be a verbal reasoning test; no details are released about this paper and no other past papers are sent out.
A confidential report form will be requested from the head teacher of your child’s present school. This report forms an important part of the decision process.
On examination day, Saturday 12 th January 2008 , the first paper begins at 9.00 am. Please try not to arrive before 8.35 am. The last paper ends at 1.15 pm.
Most candidates will be interviewed before the entrance examination and these will take place in the week beginning Monday 19 th November 2007 . You will be notified in writing of the date and time of your interview. Applicants registered after this date will be offered an interview in January.
The interview takes place in two stages – parents will have the chance to meet the teacher interviewing your child. This is an opportunity for you to ask questions about our entrance procedures and about life at Chigwell School. Your son/daughter will then be interviewed on his/her own.
We appreciate that an interview can be a nervous occasion for a young person, especially if it is for the first time, we therefore try to make it as relaxed and informal as possible.
If your child performs especially well in the examination he/she may be called for a Scholarship interview and assessments on Wednesday 23 rd January or Thursday 24 th January .
All results will be posted on Thursday 21 st February. Grade outlines are given at the bottom of the letter.
